Pet owners are often looking for new dog enrichment ideas and how to keep their fur friends busy. If you’re like us, we have a stash of enrichment toys for our pups ready to go, so it’s usually more the question of what to stuff the dog toys with!
Here are three foods we stuff and spread on our favourite enrichment toys to keep our dogs busy.
1. Wet Dog Food
You’re right, it’s the easy option. But who doesn’t love to keep it simple, especially if you’re limited to time or not that creative! Stuff your dog toys with some wet dog food mixed with some kibble, vegetables, or dog treats. Switch it up and try out the different wet food flavours.
2. Frozen Bone Broth
Bone broth has a lot of benefits for dogs, so not only are you giving them a treat, you’re helping their digestion, joint health, gut health, and more.
Simply boil a vegetable of your choice in bone broth until soft. Let it cool, then put it in the blender until smooth. Stuff your enrichment toy and freeze, or fill an ice tray so you can add them to your enrichment toys later.
3. Peanut Butter
Peanut butter is a must for most dog pantries and is a delicious Toppl and Kong stuffing or sticky mat treat. They love its texture and stickiness!
Buy some Peanut Butter that doesn’t contain xylitol (found in sweeteners and is very dangerous for dogs!). Pic’s Peanut Butter is a great option.
Mix in with mashed banana, rolled oats, blueberries, and even some crushed ice. Stuff the Kong Dog Toy or Toppl Dog Toy and freeze. Alternatively spread it across the lick mat and eat fresh or frozen.
