Description
The Miniature Poodle is a small dog breed, standing 28-38cm tall and weighing 6-8kg. Their coat is curly and dense, with colour variations such as black, white, apricot, and grey. This breed originated in Germany as a hunting dog before being downsized to become a companion dog.
Characteristics
This breed is known for their intelligence, loyalty, and friendly personality. They are trainable and excel in obedience competitions. They are playful and enjoy human companionship, making them great family pets. Poodles are often considered to have a hypoallergenic coat, this is because their curly hair doesn't shed as much as other breeds, which means they produce less dander, the main allergen that causes allergic reactions in people.
Health Problems
Miniature Poodles may be prone to health problems, including eye issues, skin allergies, hip dysplasia, and epilepsy.
Exercise
They require daily exercise, such as brisk walks and games of fetch, and are good at agility and obedience training
Grooming
Regular grooming is necessary to prevent matting and tangles in their dense coat, which should be brushed and trimmed every six to eight weeks. In order to prevent infections, their ears must also be cleaned regularly.
Living Environment
Miniature Poodles can adapt to different living conditions, making them ideal for apartment living. However, they still need socialisation and exercise to prevent boredom and destructive behaviour.
