Description
The Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier's coat is wavy and comes in varying shades of wheaten. Puppies are born brown but lighten as they get older.
Temperament
Happy, playful, friendly and alert, this breed is usually loving with kids. It loves to chase to be careful if you have cats too. Its puppy-like exuberance will stay with it for life.
Health problems
This dog can be prone to protein wasting disease and flea allergies.
Exercise
Moderate exercise and daily walks is enough for this breed.
Grooming
Be careful not to use a brush when grooming, otherwise the coat will get fuzzy. Use a medium-toothed comb to keep it free of tangles instead. If well-groomed a Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier won't shed much, so it is good for allergy suffers.
Living conditions
Apartment life is fine if it gets enough exercise. It doesn't do very well in the heat.
Fun Fact
This breed has been known as the "poor man's dog" and has traditionally been common on farms.
